A large part of a garden’s volume, texture and continuity is achieved through shrubs. Their enormous diversity allows us to work with different heights, colours, flowering periods and densities without relying exclusively on trees or seasonal plants. They are one of the most versatile tools we use to create balanced compositions.
Within the same project, shrub species can be used to create planting masses, accompany pathways, screen walls, define transition areas or highlight specific points through their flowers or foliage.
Their wide variety of forms makes it easy to combine them with ornamental grasses, ground-cover plants, aromatic species and larger specimens. In this way, we can create gardens with different layers of vegetation and maintain visual interest for more months of the year.
Before introducing a variety, it is important to understand the height and width it will reach once fully developed. A compact specimen can work very well in borders and small spaces, while more vigorous-growing varieties are suitable for creating volume or vegetative screens.
We also consider growth rate, whether the foliage is evergreen or deciduous, flowering season and response to pruning. These factors directly influence both the aesthetic result and the subsequent maintenance requirements.
There is no single species suitable for every location. In each project, we analyse the environmental conditions and the landscaping objective before making a selection.
The main selection criteria include sun exposure, irrigation requirements, soil type, drainage, wind tolerance and resistance to extreme temperatures. In Mediterranean gardens, it is particularly important to select varieties that can perform well while maintaining controlled water consumption.
At our nursery, we work with a selection of species intended for professionals who require plants with known characteristics and suitability for different landscaping applications.
The product sheets in our catalogue make it possible to assess each variety individually and combine species with different sizes, foliage and flowering characteristics. Our aim is to make it easier to choose plants that are consistent with the actual conditions of each project.
