These are perennial plants that barely exceed 70 cm in height. They are of great interest for their arching, lobed foliage in an attractive silvery grey. They produce very striking yellow flowers; these flowers are usually removed to encourage new leaves to appear (they can be used as cut flowers). They flower in summer.

These fast-growing plants are used to form flowerbeds and borders combined with green-leaved plants, and in pots and planters for terraces and patios. Thanks to their tolerance of salinity and wind, they are ideal for seaside gardens.

Centaurea is an easy plant to grow that thrives and looks its best in a well-lit, sunny position.

The soil should be well drained; it can even live in poor, dry ground. Transplanting is best done in early spring.

Water sparingly (never waterlogging) once a week, bearing in mind that they tolerate drought well. We can wait for the soil to dry out thoroughly before watering again.

As well as attracting bees and butterflies, these plants attract goldfinches when in flower.

[53
post-1234","plantas-ap","type-plantas-ap","status-publish","hentry","categorias-xerophytes-and-succulents
["GET
